Currently based in Chicago, Jake's passion for music stretches all the way back to his childhood in Medina, Ohio with piano lessons at age 6 and basement guitar recitals at 11.  In 2012, Jake moved to Chicago to attend DePaul University to study sound recording technology with Tom Miller and Dan Steinman in the School of Music. Keeping true to his musical upbringing, he continued to study jazz saxophone with Mark Colby and Scott Burns,  performing in ensembles such as Bob Lark's DePaul Jazz Ensemble.

Jake completed the internship at Chicago Recording Company in 2014, opening the door to working in music festival world with American Mobile and NEP Inc. as a freelance audio/fiber technician. He graduated with a Bachelor of Science Degree in 2015 Magna Cum Laude with a minor in Electronics.

Jake is now studio manager and assistant engineer at IV Lab Studios in Lincoln Park. He runs the internship program and continues to engineer music recordings of a wide variety of genres and styles. Jake continues to perform music with his band Jay Vee and Columbus-based band Paper Morning.

NEP Group, Inc. - Engineer, Field Tech, Compound Mgr.                                  [7/2014 - Present]

·       Oversight and preparation of all video, audio and broadcast equipment traveling with mobile trucks to music/entertainment festivals such as Lollapalooza, Coachella, Austin City Limits.

·       Prepare equipment before shows by testing/cleaning camera equipment, fiber-optic and copper cables, stage kits.

·       Ensuring clients’ needs are met: provide live TV feeds for vendors/sponsors; handle setup and technical guidance for Goldenvoice editors within truck.

IV Lab Studios - Studio Manager, Assistant Engineer                                         [6/2015 - Present]

·       Arrangement of live room before recording sessions and supporting engineer with technical issues as well as client satisfaction.

·       Operation and maintenance of SSL 4000e, API 1608 consoles and a wide variety of microphones, outboard processing gear and instruments.

·       Providing assistance to engineers during post and music sessions, daily maintenance and upkeep of equipment and studio rooms.
